You have the ring, you almost have the spot, and now the awkward question: how much should you budget for the photographer? Prices vary a lot depending on who you contact. Here is what I found on other providers' websites in October 2026, why prices differ, and what I charge myself.
1. The short answer
For one hour of proposal photography in Paris, expect roughly €200 to a little over €500. Add decoration (lights, candles, giant letters) and you easily reach €700 to €2,000 or more.
The difference isn't only about talent: preparation, discretion, the number of edited photos and the delivery time change everything.
With me, an express 30-minute proposal shoot starts at €150.
2. What photographers charge in Paris
A few benchmarks from providers' websites:
| Provider | What's included | Price |
|---|---|---|
| ApoteoSurprise (proposal agency) | Photographer for up to 1 hour, their standard rate since 2023 | about €200 |
| Kiss in Paris | 1 hour of photos, 20 edited photos, location planning | from €300 |
| Flytographer (platform) | 30 min, 1 hour or 2 hours of photos | $425, $525 or $815 |
| French average (Plateya) | Engagement session | €200 to €600 |

3. My rates

I prefer to be upfront:
| Package | What's included | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Express proposal, 10 photos | 30 minutes on location, 10 edited photos, delivered within 24 hours, private gallery | €150 |
| Express proposal, 20+ photos | 30 minutes on location, 20+ edited photos, delivered within 24 hours, private gallery | €200 |
| Proposal | 1 hour on location, 20+ edited photos, delivered within 24 hours, private gallery, help choosing the spot and time | from €290 |
| Proposal + decoration | 2 hours, lights, candles and carpet set up | from €690 |
| Couple session | 1h30, 25+ edited photos, private gallery | from €250 |
I speak French, English and Arabic, which makes planning easier for couples travelling to Paris.
4. What changes the price
- Duration: 30 minutes is enough for the moment itself, one hour adds real couple portraits.
- Decoration: lights, flowers, candles, "MARRY ME" letters. ApoteoSurprise lists the giant letters facing the Eiffel Tower at €1,990.
- Location: public spots are free, a private rooftop starts around €1,750 according to Kiss in Paris.
- Season: April to October, 20 December to 3 January and Valentine's Day are the busiest times.
- Video: filming the moment usually needs a second person, so a bigger budget.
- Number of edited photos and delivery time: 20 photos in 24 hours is not the same as 10 photos in three weeks.
5. Traps to avoid

Near the Iéna bridge, street photographers offer photos for about ten euros. Fine for a holiday snap. For a proposal, there's no planning, no discretion, no plan B and often no editing.
Before you book, always check:
- how many edited photos you get, not just "all the photos"
- the delivery time and how you receive the photos
- any travel or gallery fees
- what happens if it rains
- whether the photographer helps you choose the spot and the moment
6. How to pay less without missing the moment
- Choose a beautiful free public spot, like the Bir-Hakeim bridge.
- Go on a weekday or early in the morning: fewer people, softer light.
- If you mainly want the moment itself, 30 minutes is enough; one hour adds a few portraits.
- Simple decoration (a few candles, a bouquet) often works as well as a big set-up.
- For Christmas or Valentine's Day, book early.
